Texas Haven Handlers Information

Our junior handler program is set up to teach kids ages 7-17 about canine anatomy, behavior, showmanship, and rally obedience. At the end of each season they will be able to compete in a show! You can bring your own dog or borrow on from the Haven! Below is more detailed information about the program.

Program Details

RULES

A parent/guardian on premise at all times.
Participants that have their own dog must schedule an evaluation before signing up for class.
Participants must be ages 7-17 during the season.
Must be kind to all humans and animals.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Junior Showmanship Program Details:

3 classes - 45 minutes each + 15 minutes of free time
2 hour mock trial.
1 UKC Dog Show.
Fall 2024 Class Schedule: 4-5pm on Saturday, Sept. 14th, Sunday, Sept. 22nd, and Sunday, Sept. 29th
Mock Trial: Sunday, October 13h from 4-5pm
Dog Show- Longview, TX Saturday, October 19th

Rally Obedience Program Details:

*** Must have completed at least 2 seasons of the Junior Showmanship program before eligible for the rally obedience program

PRICING

SEASON PACKAGES: All options include 3 classes, a mock trial, and one show.

Junior Showmanship

A- $100 per participant (must have their own dog)

B- $150 per participant (includes a Haven show dog)

Rally Obedience

A- $100 per participant (must have their own dog)

B- $150 per participant (includes a Haven show dog)

Private lessons can be scheduled as needed for $25 per 30 minutes.

Payment for the season is due on or before the 1st day of class.

SHOW RULES

Participants that have their own dog at the show must bring their own kennel, water, food, cleaning supplies, ect and be prepared to set up the day before the show.
The parent of the participant must be with the kid AT ALL TIMES when the dog is out of the kennel.
Participants are responsible for hotel, food, and travel fees.
